Teacher Training ยท 1 November 2026

What are the entry requirements for 200h teacher training

The 200-hour pathway is for people who are new to teaching. Apply or enquire so we can talk about your goals and experience. A conversation does not oblige you to join.

Thames Wellness Academy does not publish a detailed formal entry-requirements list on the pages. Our main entry route is the 200-Hour Foundation Teacher Training, and applicants are asked to apply or enquire so the Academy can assess their goals and experience. The 200-hour pathway is aimed at people who are new to teaching. Please take a moment to send us an email or give us a call. It will not oblige you to participate. We love to talk to you.

200-Hour Foundation Training

Designed for newcomers to teaching. It runs over nine weekends from February to November 2027 and includes 180 contact hours plus 20 self-study hours. The next course begins on 12 February 2027 and finishes on 14 November 2027, in studio in Berkshire and Reading.

300-Hour Advanced Training

Intended for people who are already qualified teachers and have completed a 200-hour certification. Foundation pathways continue through Foundation Training toward 300 and 500 hours.

CPD modules

Intended for qualified yoga teachers, covering topics such as breathwork, anatomy, pregnancy, sound, and yoga nidra. See the CPD courses. The free CPD Open Day is Friday 29 January 2027.

Studio workshops

Open sessions on specialist themes. These provide a diploma of attendance. Yoga Professionals Organisation Limited certification applies to the teacher-training pathways. Browse workshops.

Practical expectations

Although not stated as formal prerequisites, you should expect to need:

  • A genuine interest in yoga and a reasonable existing personal practice.
  • Availability for the full in-person schedule, since core programmes are teacher-led and delivered on site in Berkshire and Reading.
  • English sufficient to follow anatomy, teaching-method, and philosophy content.
  • Commitment to complete both contact hours and self-study requirements.
  • For the 300-hour or CPD routes, evidence of an existing 200-hour yoga teacher qualification.

The 200-hour course page also asks for at least two years of regular yoga practice, or consistent class attendance with a recognised teacher, and readiness for weekend intensives.

How to confirm eligibility

The Academy directs prospective students to its Apply page, where it asks about goals and experience, then helps match them to Foundation Training, CPD, or workshops. It also has a free Open Day for the 200-hour pathway on 21 November 2026, 12:00-2pm, which would be the most direct way to ask about minimum experience, fitness or health considerations, application screening, and payment plans.
